Choosing a commercial cleaner
Updated 5 August 2026
Commercial cleaning is a compliance purchase as much as a service: your building manager or insurer will care about the paperwork.
Procurement basics
Verify the ABN, public liability cover (ask for the certificate of currency), and police-checked staff for after-hours access. For anything industrial or strata, ask for SWMS documentation. Then probe consistency: staff turnover, site supervision, and how issues get reported. A trial period before a 12-month contract is standard — be wary of anyone who won't offer one.
Common questions
Contract or casual?
Regular premises need a contract with a trial period and a clear exit clause. Keep one-off jobs (end-of-build, deep cleans) separate from the contract rate.
