How results are ordered

We think you should know exactly why a business appears where it does. Results on AusLocal are ordered by, in this order:

1. Featured placement. A small number of listings (never more than two per page) can be given featured placement — because the business subscribes to our Premium plan, or because our team has pinned it. These always carry a visible Featured label. We never mix paid placement into results unlabelled.
2. Verified review rating. Reviews on AusLocal can only be written by customers whose job was actually completed through a quote request — a business cannot buy, write, or delete its reviews.
3. Recency. Between businesses with the same rating, more recently published listings appear first.

Our team can also demote or hide listings — for example while a complaint is investigated or a removal request is processed. Money is never a factor in demotion decisions, and paying never protects a business from them.
