Terms of Service

Last updated 2 August 2026 · Draft pending final legal review

AusLocal (auslocal.au) is operated by EN ER Theodorou (ABN 19 245 621 227), an Experience Collaborative website ("we", "us"). By using this site you agree to these terms.

1. What this service is (and is not)

AusLocal is a directory that helps consumers find and contact independent local businesses, and helps those businesses present their services. We are not a party to any agreement between a consumer and a business found through this site. We do not provide, supervise, or guarantee the services those businesses perform, and any contract for services is solely between the consumer and the business.

Listings are compiled from public sources (including the Australian Business Register and public web listings), from businesses themselves, and from consumer feedback. We take reasonable steps to keep listings accurate but do not warrant that every detail is current or complete.

2. Accounts and listing claims

Businesses may claim their listing by verifying control of a relevant email address. You must provide accurate information when claiming or editing a listing, and you must not claim a listing for a business you are not authorised to represent. We may suspend or remove listings or accounts that breach these terms.

3. Reviews

Reviews can only be left through a review invitation issued after a quote request is marked completed by the business — a review cannot be submitted without a matching completed transaction record. This reduces, but cannot entirely eliminate, the risk of unrepresentative reviews.

Businesses must not offer incentives (discounts, refunds, gifts, or anything else of value) in exchange for reviews or for the removal or alteration of reviews. Doing so is a breach of these terms and may result in review removal, listing demotion, or delisting. Reviews must reflect the reviewer's genuine experience and must not contain unlawful, defamatory, or abusive content; we may remove reviews that breach this.

4. Premium subscriptions and billing

Businesses may purchase a Premium listing subscription (currently $49 AUD per month). Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled.

Cancellation is self-serve: you can cancel at any time from the billing section of your dashboard, with no phone call or exit process required. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and your listing then reverts to the free tier.

5. Refunds and consumer guarantees

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. If the subscription service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you are entitled to the remedies the law provides — including, where applicable, a refund for a major failure.

Beyond those statutory rights, monthly subscription fees already paid are generally not refunded on cancellation for change of mind — your Premium benefits simply continue to the end of the paid period. If you believe you've been billed in error, contact us via the contact form and we will review it promptly.

6. Acceptable use

You must not: scrape or bulk-harvest directory data; submit false quote requests or reviews; misrepresent your identity or affiliation; attempt to access another account; or interfere with the operation or security of the site.

7. Business removal (delisting)

A business may request complete removal from this directory at any time via the removal request form. We acknowledge removal requests within 5 business days and resolve them within 30 days. See our Privacy Policy for how personal information is handled on removal.

8. Intellectual property

The site, its design, and its compiled directory content are owned by or licensed to us. Businesses retain ownership of the content they submit and grant us a licence to display it in the directory and in material promoting the directory.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law (and subject always to the consumer guarantees in section 5), we exclude liability for any loss or damage arising from services performed by businesses found through this directory, from reliance on listing or review content, or from interruption or unavailability of the site. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to resupplying the relevant service or the cost of resupplying it.

Engaging any business found here is your own decision — we encourage consumers to make their own enquiries (licences, insurance, references) before engaging any provider.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on this page with an updated date, and continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance. For subscribed businesses, changes that materially reduce Premium benefits take effect from the next billing period.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
